Mark Norwood. Head Nurse & CEO:
MED-HELP.COM  &  MED-HELP.NET

I am a TRAUMA NURSE  Now disabled with a Neuromuscular Disease, My deep Christian beliefs and faith now lead me to believe that the lord still has a purpose for me here on this Earth.  With what time I have left, I am devoting to helping those who cannot Find -or access Medical Information, on their Medical condition, via Library or the internet, Because of the inability to afford the time it takes for Doctors to explain the situation to the Patients, or the inability to understand what they have read due to the complexity of Medical Terminology, I have built these two sites to help in those areas of understanding. MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP.NET's purpose, is to be there and help by taking the time to look up this information - &  present it to the Patients, or point them in the right direction to help them find it.  MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP.NET  (does not)  take the place, or intend - to take the place of your own Doctors opinion or any others.  If an opinion is asked for, It will be given with extreme precision, & with the most current information & experience available. All medical advice is medically correct & sound. But in no way are we trying to take the place of your family Doctor or Physician. We are Licensed (Nurses Doctors & Medics) & Part of our function is to Teach and help Via our Training- and knowledge that we have acquired. All Nurses & Doctors on this site resume there own responsibility as to the content of there Ask the Nurse, or Ask The Doctor, Email or A/V conferencing replies. MED-HELP.COM WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.  But in saying that, I can assure you that most all email, is checked by @ least 2 Nurses before being replied to, as far as to the accuracy, and to there content & suggestions. This site has also been Approved by HON: the- (Health On The Net Foundation)
And Proudly display their seal of approval. MAN.

A Little something about Myself & MED-HELP.COM :  I am a 45 year old Male, Scientist, Former Paramedic & Trauma Nurse. My hobbies for the last 25 years were Science, Body Building, & Martial arts.  In 1990 I became disabled with what was called at that time EBV Virus. In 1995, I became severely Disabled with what is now known as Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis /Fibromyalgia /CFIDS /IVN. (You can read more on ME & how it relates to Fibro & CFIDS on Page:20 of this site.  I am now totally Disabled & Home & Room bound. (Use Wheel Chair & crutches when able) I work closely with a number of  MD Specialists In research, & In following the Disease process on myself, which is Destroying my body (Muscles/ Nervous system & Joints). I Created this site Now 5 years ago in the hopes of helping people like myself in search of Medical information on Diseases. And to keep working in someway as a Nurse, in which I feel GOD made me for a Purpose. I Graduated in the top of my class & Passed my State Licensing with a score of  98%. In the 4 + years I have had this site open, it has grown well beyond  my expectations, in its Popularity & # of  Ask the Nurse EMail  requests. If you are able & can help to keep this site open & free to those who need it & cannot afford to donate, Please use the Information below to Donate.

Thank You and may the Lord Bless You Richly.

Antonette Royce. Nurse 5 @ MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP.NET

I am a licensed Rn and certified Psych therapist. I've worked on many
area crisis teams w/police. I also do prison work(non-gratis) that could be
bringing kids to their Daads, helping clients with court cases also Free! I
started in psych/mental health in 1978, then graduated Nsg. 1983 went to
Merrimack College N.Andover BS/Psych 1986. Worked in many Nsg
homes, as a DON, SUP,ADON. The past 4 yrs. I worked for several
Boston Nsg agencies in long term care. Not the best job! Too much
liability on my license, I feel, B/C all the poor Pts. do not get enough
proper care. I try when I work my shifts, but then I often cry in the med
closet B/C they will be no better off when I leave. I'm only there 8 hours,
and I can't work miracles. But there have been times I've caught many
things about the clients that SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED by their
own staff, and was not. Really got me upset!
I'm a very compassionate person/nurse, quite an expert in my field,
I've had many great Psychiatrists to teach me many things. For this I'll be
ever grateful But they are now all retired and in their 70's, (I'm 53),
looks like I'm retired right up there w/them. I don't wish to be home,
however I'm better off than some, and worse than others ! The Lord
wants me to suffer these maladies for some reason, so I do. I'm thinking
in that I feel if I educate enough prisoners, and help enough people to cope
w/their lives, then I'm richly Blessed, and my job will be done.

I have 2 kids. they are 32 (adopted girl Nanette-Marie), and my son Jerry
39, who is a career man in Atlantic City , for the Coast Guard. He flies
helicopters, and goes on the "SAR'S" that is the search & rescue
missions. I'm extremely proud of them, and I have 3 beautiful
grand-daughters. Jerry has 2 girls 10 & 5, and Nanette has a 5 yr.
old; Nanette also has Lupus, Oh well tha's it for now God Bless

Physician Suzanne Alt. DO.
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Specialties Include: Anesthesia and Family Medicine
MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP.NET

I am a board certified anesthesiologist and family practitioner and would like to broaden my practice options. I was thinking about starting my own site when I saw MED-HELP.COM and was impressed with its work and ethics. I love to teach and write, I Grew up in the Midwest with a love for the outdoors, animals, and sports. She has traveled all over the United States and has settled down in SW Florida. She went to medical school in Kirksville, Missouri at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (the founding school of Osteopathy). She did an internship at Brentwood Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She then went on to practice family medicine in a private practice in Queen City, Missouri and continued as an instructor in the Department of Family Medicine and was Associate Director of the Junior/Senior Geriatric Medical Program. After two years of family practice she went back to finish an Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Maryland-Baltimore.
I am a state of the art trained physician that has her patients at the center focus of her care. I practices actively in anesthesiology and part-time in family medicine. I am board certified in both specialties and is board eligible in Emergency Medicine. I have been active in pain medicine and feels that patients need to be listened to closely as each case teaches a physician something new.

Osteopathic medicine is growing in the world. We believe that the allopathic (MD) profession approaches disease in a "fix the disease" format while we the osteopathic profession believe in more "prevent the disease" attitude. It is not always obvious, but is evident our thinking and diagnostic process. The body can heal itself with appropriate help is one of our principles. This has to do with the additional treatment modality of "osteopathic manipulation treatment". Traditional medicine is used as state of the art and then adding documented assistance of manipulation in an appropriate case (like adding penicillin in strep throat) can realize amazing improvements. My specialties are anesthesia and family medicine. I hope we can meet each others needs.
Thanks. Dr. Suzanne Alt.

About My History & Treatment of Patients With:

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Fibromyalgia/CFIDS/IVN

In the spring and summer of 1975, there was a major, severe epidemic of a communicable, apparent viral disease at the Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael, a suburb of Sacramento, California. It occurred in February, and the bulk of the disease happened between July and November of 1975. Cases continued to occur, although few, until 1978 The epidemic involved all departments of the hospital. It was equally severe in all departments.  I was appointed chairmen of a committee to investigate the outbreak. At the time, I feared that there might be fatalities and so Asked that the CDC (Communicable Disease Center, Atlanta, Georgia) become involved. An epidemiologist fro there spent a week at the hospital. Another epidemiologist from the State came for the day. Cultures were obtained for all known viruses, bacteria, and rickettsiae, and all were negative. The disease was apparently due to a new agent of disease. At the time, we did a literature search and found three reports of outbreaks that were called EPIDERMIC PHLEBODYNIA (meaning painful veins). While the disease at Mercy San Juan was somewhat similar, it included many more features that were subscribed in epidermic phlebodynia and so at the time, I believed it was not the same disease. Later , additional literature search showed that the disease was very similar to epidermic neuromyasthenia/ myalgic encephalomyelitis. But troublingly, very few if any, vascular features were mentioned. Since the very beginning, I have followed these patients on a virtual daily now for 23 years. This continuous observation and study is perhaps the longest interval that anyone has ever studied such an disease. I have, throughout the years, learned all the nuances of the disease. Because the symptoms are so many and often seemingly bizarre, I often attempted to disclaim them as being real. But I learned that the patience were always right and that I had to have an open mind. This disease is humbling.

One must remember what a famous French physician said a year ago, Jean Martin Charcot:
