Severe Abdominal Pain Demands Immediate Doctor's Attention

Severe abdominal pain refers to the pain caused in the stomach or the belly region. A severe pain is always unbearable and demands prompt medical attention. Severe abdominal pain can be a sharp pain; it feels like the stabbing of knife or like cramping or twisting. A feeble abdominal pain can be ignored, but you cannot simply dismiss severe pain in the abdominal region.

The Causes Of Severe Abdominal Pain

Severe pain in the abdomen can be triggered by many reasons, such as, toxins, stomach ulcers, biliary tract disease, renal disease, liver disease, menstruations, bladder infections, excessive gas formation, vascular problems, lactose intolerance, heartburn or indigestion, urinary tract infections. Other health complexities like ovarian cyst, hernia, diverticular disease, pancreatic cancer, food allergy, Cholecystitis or gallstones, irritable bowel symptom, Endemetriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, Pneumonia, female and male Genitourinary disease, malignancy, metabolic diseases, etc. can cause severe pain in the abdomen.

Children are vulnerable to attacks of severe abdominal pain. The root-causes of pain among children can lie with health problems like sickle cell crisis, Crohn's disease, parasitic infections, Gastroesophageal reflux, chronic constipation, excess fructose or sorbitol ingestion and many more.

The Symptoms Of Severe Abdominal Pain

People suffering from severe abdominal pain may have problems like constipation, while others may suffer from loose tools. Frequent diarrhea-problems are not uncommon. Severe pain can originate from the upper part of the abdomen and spread or seep down to the lower part of the abdomen. Sometimes, the abdominal pain can flare up immediately after a meal or 12 hours after heavy drinking. Continued whimpering and wailing are the best symptoms of severe abdominal pain in infants. Accumulation of gas or stool may trigger severe pain, but after passage of both, the child may feel relieved.

Severe abdominal pain is experienced by many women during menstruation; this pain can be an indication of some serious internal problem, like an ailment in the reproductive organs, such as uterine fibroids, ovarian cancer, ovarian cysts, endemetriosis and pelvic inflammatory disease. Remember, that abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and bloating can be an indication of bowel obstruction.

Pain, partnered by vomiting, bloody stools or gastrointestinal can turn the situation worse. Upper abdominal pain conjugated with vomiting, is a clear indication of pancreatitis. Severe abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and fever, is a sure indication of appendicitis. Remember, that severe pain can turn your stomach soft or hard and rigid. Therefore, if you experience unbearable pain and the pain persists, then you should not waste a single minute and seek a doctor' s advice immediately.
