Blood Pressure Chart

The blood pressure chart has been developed by the efforts of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and World Health Organization (WHO). It is basically designed to guide you about high blood pressure and normal blood pressure. High blood pressure may lead to fatal conditions such as stroke and heart attack, so it needs to be monitored constantly. A blood pressure chart is an important cardiac tool that helps you monitor the blood pressure readings.

Before going further, you need to know that blood pressure is essentially the measurement of pressure exerted on the walls of the blood vessels by the blood flowing through them. Blood pressure readings fall under four general categories that range from Normal to stage 2 Hypertension (high blood pressure). Treatment typically depends on the level of blood pressure of the person.

The blood pressure chart typically encloses information regarding your pulse pressure, diastolic pressure readings, systolic pressure readings and age. The diastolic and systolic pressure readings can be recorded in the chart in the maximum, average and minimum ranges.

In certain instances, the blood pressure chart may also include interpretations and legends that are vital for your day-to-day monitoring. The readings in the chart show the safe and unsafe blood pressure levels, which help determine whether a person requires medical attention or not.

The different categories of blood pressure charts essentially have different entries. A blood pressure chart basically depends on who is creating it, the general condition of the patient using the chart and who are in need of the chart.

The WHO chart reads the systolic blood pressure (in mmHg) along the vertical axis and the diastolic blood pressure (in mmHg) along the horizontal axis, providing the readings for optimal blood pressure, normal blood pressure, mild hypertension, moderate hypertension, and severe hypertension or high blood pressure.

If everything has been recorded, you can easily track your blood pressure on a daily basis. This would further assist in controlling the possible effects of hypertension such as stroke or to know when to visit the doctors and when to take the medicines.

With the advent of latest technologies for blood pressure checks, the job has become quite easier. There are software packages available online for proper noting and charting of blood pressure readings. These software solutions can be downloaded either free or bought directly from the software manufacturer. However, before going for any such sophisticated blood pressure chart you must be sure that it meets your needs.
