Grapefruit Diet
The Grapefruit Diet has been around for many years but was most popular in the 1980s. Some people claim that this diet has worked for them while others found it difficult to stay on the grapefruit regimen. Those that stuck to the diet plan managed to lose up to 10 pounds in 12 days. Some believe this diet to be successful because grapefruit is a fat burner, while others believe it's the low calorie intake that helps you lose pounds. It's probably a combination of both that make this diet a success.
Here are the 8 rules for the original Grapefruit Diet.
1. Eat until you are full at each meal. The plan claims that the more you eat, the more you'll lose.
2. You must eat everything on the diet plan. Do not leave even one item out.
3. Drink eight 8oz glasses of water every day.
4. Coffee should be either eliminated or cut down to one cup a day.
5. Eat exactly as much grapefruit as its written in the diet plan. Don't add more or eat less grapefruit. The amount of grapefruit is very specific.
6. Fry foods with butter rather than oils or margarine.
7. There will be no eating between meals, no breads, desserts or white veggies including sweet potatoes.
8. Stay on this diet plan a total of 12 days the skip 2 days.
If you are following the original Grapefruit Diet, it consists of eating no more than 800 calories per day. Today there's a new take on the Grapefruit Diet which is adding grapefruit to each of your meals. The good news is you can continue to eat as you normally would without calorie counting or following the Grapefruit Diet rules. A study has proven that adding grapefruit to your everyday meals will help you lose weight each week. It's true that you won't lose as much weight as you would on the original low calorie diet but many people would prefer just adding grapefruit and grapefruit juice to help shed a few pounds.
